Ay I Heard Ur Goin' 2 SXSW: Part I

Sweetest Drip didn’t make it to SXSW;

maybe it’s because we’re too bbfresh to mingle with the big daddy music elites. It’s okay though,
~the sun is high and I’m feelin’ fly~

Ay it’s your bru Reuel and I’ll be your guide for SXSW (even though I’m not physically in Austin, TX). Since I’m always lookin’ for some cool cats to chill hard with us, I’ll share some hotttt prospects with all u lil Driplets out there — while reclining in my compyooter chair. It’s almost the end of day 2 of the musical spread at SXSW, so there’s quite a lot of buzz to sift through.

I’ll do this throughout the week, so stay tuned for Part II!

Friends – Friend Crush

So it took me a while to get over it. I just got over it. Now I got some Friends 🙂

Samantha Urbani and her four Brooklynite (Lesley Hann, Nikki Shapiro, Matthew Molnar, Oliver Duncan) bandfriends got the blogosphere ablaze with their super hottt music-making. It took me a while to get into Friends, mostly because I’ve been feeling let down by once-reputable sources of indie music news and have been trying pure, filterless musical enjoyment. With a spark from my BIC and a head full of I’m just tryna chill son, I cleared my mind of negative press and Carles-isms, pressed play and instantly had my e-motions flustered.

Friends – I’m His Girl

Needless to say, I’ve got a lil friend crush on bb Samantha too; her voice and personality are so spot on, so fresh. I watched an interview with the band and they all seem like they’d be down 2 chill xxxtra hard. Friends’ dancey, funky, and smooth-styled music is totally relatable to our generation of post-you-it’s-all-about-me and should continue to win over/break hearts beyond SXSW!

Reuel’s thoughts: c l e a n

So I’ve been getting a bit more hip to PORTALS lately, mostly because they seem like a crew of chill bros/broettes that know how to do it together right. If you’re in Austin this week, you should definitely hit up this 20+ indie artist BBQ fun-time fiestaaaaaa! I’m putting in a personal shoutout to young CAVES, whose tracks I’ve been fancying pretty hard lately.

CAVES – When You Were Partying, I Was Dying EP
