Indie Playlist: October 2012 GKMC

Another all-important Indie Playlist for you this October 2012 via Sweetest Drippu~

But first — Kendrick Lamar released his first major label album (#GKMC bb), and in full indie music spirit, we’re all about not talking about it, but totally talking about’s it, nah’mean? Ho.

Today’s theme will be: “______” Kid, M.A.A.D. City.*
*M.A.A.D. = my.Angry.Adolescence.divided

Ach, we all know what cities do to das keedz, and how music is all about reflecting all that onto your ears, amiright?

Since everything the SD crew does is (somehow) all for das keedz…

Lemme troll you with some of that sweet quality for a good 20 minutes or so. Take off yer pants, because this is gonna slippey and slidey.

Think of the kids.

Ho.

01. Kuhrye-oo – Give In (For the Fame) [Boody & Le1f Remix]

Theme: DARQ KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

Producers Boody & Le1f have come together to refresh Kuhrye-oo’s Give In (For the Fame), replacing the original, smooth and gentle #feelings for a more raw, frenetic but still sensual beat. What you get is a minimalist hybrid featuring darker more dangerous overtones slowly creeping up and down your legs. Shlick.

02. Rap Class – Guest Mix For The Astral Plane

Theme: FLOSSY KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

Our bros from The Astral Plane blog hit us up with a mix that I’ve had on repeat deez days. Being part of the yung millenial generation you might not have caught a lot of these classics. Or maybe these types of stunnaz don’t reach your corner of the ‘net BUT it’s coo tho, there’s always love for throwbacks and Rap Class brrings u these go-to R&B / hip hop cuts to get u comfy in your contemporary shoooooooooooooooes~

03. BEAR//FACE – Beat_Tape

Theme: STARBOUND MYSTERY KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

”Who the fuck is BEAR//FACE?!?!?!?” I asked Google, and it replied: Shit son, I dunno, seems new doe. Here’s what we have: He might be a 19 year-old named Ciaran McDonald from Belfast, Northern Ireland; with the skills to turn all our ears into jelly. From arp’ed beats to smooth, melty samples; BEAR//FACE has got the current styles down and coming out clean. It definitely hasn’t been long since this producer has been using the moniker, recently putting out a (FREE) 7-track release via Bandcamp a few days back. Give it a download for that sweet 320kbps action.

04. FREnchfire – GIRLS

Theme: FTR BRI’ISH KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

Girls is a remix of DJ Tomcraft’s 2002 prog. house hit Loneliness by FREnchfire, a slick producer from “Liverpool-ish”. Featuring that rising post-dub/grime/UK garage genesis that’s been hitting us these past few years, this artist has definitely been getting great coverage. Check out his full album, “CHASING” and maybe open your wallets to get that high bitrate version (it’s only tree-quid fiftay & your speakers will rape your face in gratitude.

06. Insightful – The Shy Lanterns Glow

Theme: FEELINGS KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

I was flippin’ thru Tumblr, dodging the nasty posts and maybe cradling my peen to da hott posts. Anyway I’ll leave this one to the pros at Soulection:

“An album dedicated to the lantern you are. The world is dark at times, and this was created to remind you of the light inside of you. My life has been a series of ups and downs and I hope this resonates somehow.” — Insightful

07. LAY BAC – Stay Out Tonight

Theme: CRUISIN’ KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

LAY BAC is an Austin, TX production duo made possible by Tom Cruisin’ and Matthew Shogi. Stay Out Tonight was a slick lil’ title track to an EP chef’ed up by these southern homies a few years bac. I don’t even know what to say. I’m laid back; to’ up from da flo’ up. Peep da song, pass me da bong. Deep doop dong. So long.

08. Wonda – @Kilokish

Theme: NEW KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

Wonda is Chicago-based Tobi Adeyemi, a smooth-ass muh fuh that our trillionaire’s senses detect is working hard to build an empire out of brain gold. From producing & remixing to laying down rhymes, his choice of tracks, styles and samples have got us — and plenty of other people — perking our ears up. We see you being #relevant while keeping hold of yourself mister, and we’re excited to see what 2013 has in store for you. Reltalk.

09. Toro y Moi – So Many Details

Theme: CHILL KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

Toro y Moi’s chillmaster and commander Chaz Bundick is back with So Many Details, a pop-over-psych affair compared to his previous albumsCausers of This and Underneath the Pine.

Sincere pop” is what Toro’s is reppin’ this time around, which basically means all the right feels honed-in on your the warm fuzzies.

Chaz is just one of those guys who gets it right with every release. With So Many Details, it feels as if he’s flopping down

10. Tempogeist – Hold On (Prometones Remix)

Theme: KIDO KID, M.A.A.D. CITY

Before he went on a name-change hiatus, our Tokyo bro Kido Yoji released some of the hottest nu disco tracks you can find on the Internet.

He said to Hold On for a while as he entered hiatus and recently made his comeback as Prometones with this poppin’ fresh remix for Belgium’s Tempogeist.

Hold On was also remixed by indie dance producers Rogue vogue, Satin Jackets, and Monitor 66.

As for the name change, maybe someone got Kido M.A.A.D.? Or maybe he found a new way to flow~

U kno no matter what we just wanna peep new Prometones releases doe!

Keep it clean, get that ice cream indie playlist action heeyah.
