Indie Playlist Mondays

Every week, we’ll share ten new tracks and videos that make us say yay!
Allow us to complement your growing indie playlist with some of the sweetest tunes.
We don’t rate with numbers because everything is cat-approved.

01. Chris Malinchak – Tango in Paris

Roddy: Great track! I get some New Order vibes out of it.

02. Moon Boots – Aretha (ColeCo Remix) PREVIEW

Roddy: Tits. Can’t wait for the finished track!

03. Metronomy – Heartbreaker (Le Crayon & Oxford Remix)

Roddy: Awesome remix from Oxford Sounds and Le Crayon!

04. Contact Lens – Shones (SGP)

Reuel: Always looking out for the fam, Young CL comes through sounding clean in his latest Allnighter mixtape.

05. ASAP Rocky – Wassup (prod. Clams Casino)

Reuel: Gold teeth. French braids. NSFW since tenth grade. Rocky doing what he does with the aid of Clams Casino and VICE.

06. Handbraekes – The Qat

Reuel: Handbraekes (a new Mr. Oizo and Boys Noize project) are for those who wile out on iidm or insanely intelligent dance music. They’re basically electrohell on Earth. It’s always great thing though, I promise.

07. Major Lazer feat. The Partysquad – Original Don (Flosstradamus remix)

Reuel: Flossy’s remix has definitely gained some online frequent flyer mileage with due credit. This remix is like trap-living within a dancehall rather than on the block. Shit got real when Flosstradamus closed out his DJ set with this song at Mad Decent’s “Vibrate LA” this Saturday.

08. Drop The Lime – Shake Baby Shake (Roby Howler remix)

Reuel: Roby Howler only allows enough room to shake for this Drop The Lime remix. It’s hard, it’s techno, and overall a wild (yet efficient) twerkout.

09. Goldroom – Angeles

Reuel: Guest guitarist David Urbina and bassist Sammy Gabbard (as well as a solid layer of bongos) come together with Goldroom for a track dedicated to LA and its lovers.

10. Radio Soulwax presents D&SCO

Reuel: Here’s what Radio Soulwax says about disco and D&SCO:

Disco is such a generic word now, it can mean so many different things and yet funnily enough it is the only way to describe the music in this mix. There might be different types of it in this hour, but it’s all disco as far as we’re concerned.

We’ll be sure to keep your seat warm and the groove intact until next week’s indie playlist — Sweetest Drip got yer back.
